The Engineering and Transportation Department provides engineering of traffic and public facilities as well as operation of the Salinas Municipal Airport, building plan checking, building inspection, and permit issuance for construction of new and remodeling of residential and commercial buildings.
The department also administers the City's Code Enforcement Program for substandard housing, zoning code violations, and dangerous building complaints. Inspection services are provided for new subdivisions and public improvements on private property.
Our Permit Services Division issues building records reports for the sale of residential property and permits for street vendors, banners, and encroachment into the public right-of-way.

Salinas Muncipal Airport
The Salinas Municipal Airport is a general aviation facility occupying 763 acres, with three runways serving single and twin engine aircraft and helicopters, as well as an increasing number of turbo-propeller and turbine-powered business jets. The airport has an air traffic control tower in operation 12 hours/day, 7 days/week.
City of Salinas Industrial Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvements Project’s Mitigated Negative Declaration
The proposal is for rehabilitation of and modifications to the existing City of Salinas industrial wastewater treatment facility to meet existing Waste Discharge Requirements. An initial study (IS) has been prepared in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) The project will not have a significant effect on the environment and therefore, a Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) has also been prepared.

Documents referenced in the IS are available for review at the City of Salinas Engineering and Transportation Department and/or EMC Planning Group Inc.
Written comments on the environmental document will be received from March 15, 2010 through April 14, 2010. Comments can also be presented before or during a public hearing at which the project will be considered. A hearing date has not yet been set.
